A fun interactive event that’s part music and part comedy, social media sensation Pub Choir will teach Sydneysiders a classic Aussie song in an affordable event that transforms the crowd into a legendary choir!
Check out Pub Choir in action!
Some people are born musical legends. For everybody else, there’s Pub Choir. Initially concocted in Brisbane, 2017, Pub Choir is now an international phenomenon that transforms regular people into singing sensations for one night only.
Led by human Berocca, Astrid Jorgensen and accompanied on guitar by Birri Gubba woman, Waveney Yasso, Pub Choir is an effervescent show that is equal parts comedy, community, and yell-singing. The outcome? Low-key world peace, where a room of total strangers all agree that for 90 minutes, they will work together in joyful harmony.
As audiences are lovingly bullied into harmonic greatness, their glorious metamorphosis is filmed by Pub Choir’s world-class, in-house videography team, to be re-lived and re-shared on social media. Using the old definition of ‘viral’, Pub Choir’s videos have been viewed millions of times and endorsed by the likes of The Cranberries, The Killers, Wheatus, BBC World News, and Australian Story.
Even despite the recent lack of synergy between ‘group singing’ and ‘Covid’, Pub Choir never stopped plotting their outlandish schemes to prove that singing really IS for everybody. Temporarily operating as ‘Couch Choir’, the team continued to sing online with thousands of people around the world (and they even got a tweet from Mariah Carey!).
This culminated in June 2021 where Astrid led 200,000 people around Australia to sing from their own homes via a live 2 - hour national broadcast on SBS Television called Australia’s Biggest Singalong!
Now Pub Choir is preparing once again to step back onto stage and make new singing friends in the physical world. There are no auditions, no solos, no sheet music, no long-term commitment. It’s not that kind of choir.
If you want to join the ranks of Pub Choir greatness, it’s simple: buy a ticket! If you rock up to the show, prepared to let out some noise, Pub Choir will do the rest. You can thank us later.
