The FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 will see 12 powerhouse basketball nations take to Sydney, Australia to compete for the World title. The tournament will feature 144 players, 12 teams and 38 games across 10 days of action.
The event is going to be an absolute treat for the fans, with every game looking set to play a major role in the final outcome. That's because while reigning champions USA will be favorites as usual when they aim for a four-peat, the rest of the field looks completely unpredictable and that will only add to the thrill.
The Group Phase is set to have an amazing number of standout games and duels, with all eyes naturally on the Opals' opener against France on Thursday, September 22 - the very first day of the competition.
That has the makings of being a classic with both nations eyeing up a podium push and searching for a positive start. Australia head coach Sandy Brondello and her players will no doubt benefit from some amazing support from their fans on home soil as they prepare to bring the noise.
Women's basketball fans will also be drawn to the furious tempo and three-point shooting of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Finalists Japan, so look out for when they go up against Canada on Sunday, September 25.
