2019 Women's Sports Festival

It is time for females across NSW to double-knot those laces, stretch those calf muscles and don the sunscreen for the 11th annual Women’s Sports Festival at Sydney Olympic Park from 1 February - 28 April 2019.  

A celebration of female participation in sport and intended to encourage girls and women of all fitness abilities to lead healthy and active lifestyles, the Festival coincides with International Women's Day, on 8 March 2019.

This year the Women’s Sports Festival kicks off with 18 women’s rugby matches.
HSBC Sydney 7s is back and better than ever before. Experience rugby like you’ve never seen before; fast-paced and full of flair. It's non-stop, long passes, fast running, try scoring SEVENS! The Aussies took out the Women’s title in 2018 and will be back for more glory – share the moment and experience that winning feeling!

Her Sport Her Way

NSW Office of Sport IWD Sport Leaders Breakfast - ‘Balance for Better’ in NSW Sport

Professor Philip Morgan, University of Newcastle, will showcase the Dads and Daughters Exercise and Empowerment (DADEE) program a key initiative of Her Sport Her Way, which is a four-year strategy that will drive powerful change for women and girls in sport in NSW. Professor Morgan will share his insights on the unique influence fathers can have as positive gender equity advocates for their daughters, and how this program improves girls sport skills and social-emotional wellbeing. These are key precursors to a lifelong engagement in physical activity and sport consistent with the 2019 IWD theme of Balance for Better - a call for collective action and shared responsibility for building a gender-balanced world.

Heart Foundation Gear Up Girl Ride

Presented by Bicycle NSW. Get your hearts pumping for Sydney’s largest, women’s-only recreational bike ride! And this year we are aiming to make it the world’s largest women’s community ride by setting a world record. Every rider will get the chance to be a world record holder! Gear Up Girl Ride is an annual charity cycling event in support of the Heart Foundation showcasing some of Sydney’s most spectacular separated cycleways. Starting at Sydney Olympic Park and finishing in a festival atmosphere at Cronulla Beach, With 20km, 40km and 60km options; there is a ride to suit you and all your friends. Bring the kids, they ride FREE!

Girls Get Active Day

Girls Get Active Day

Sport NSW will host a Girls Get Active Day for high school aged girls. Beginning with a Q&A panel in the morning, the girls will be inspired by women achieving success in the sports industry as they hear all about the incredible lives and experiences of elite female athletes. Students will also have the opportunity to ask the panellists questions and get a photo or autograph from the women.

Following the panel, students will jump straight into the sports circuit where they will try a range of sports in a fun and safe environment. Each station will be facilitated by the panellists and/or staff from state sporting organisations.

All participants will take away a showbag filled with information about how they can continue to participate in sport and explore all pathways available to them.

Suncorp Super Netball Round 1 GIANTS Netball v NSW Swifts

The Suncorp Super Netball season kicks off with a Round 1 blockbuster between NSW rivals, GIANTS Netball and the NSW Swifts. Both teams will put it all on the line for their first win of the season and state bragging rights. This is a game not to be missed! Tickets on sale 10am, Wednesday 14 March.
