Never Forgotten
Drawing
The emotional and physical effects of urban development within China are explored in my body of work, Never Forgotten. Though urbanisation is a global phenomenon, the impact of the demolition of old buildings and subsequent loss of culture in China is often overlooked. My work expresses the physical disfiguration of older Chinese towns and the emotional impact on older Chinese individuals as their traditional culture begins to lose touch with current society. I chose an abstract and stylistic approach in my work to represent the memories that lie within these towns, as they cannot be forgotten.
