The Wangal are the first custodians of the air, land and waters now known as Sydney Olympic Park. Step onto the Wangal Walk and let the landscape speak. It’s an easy, quiet track that creates a journey through time, culture and Country.
Winding through the heart of Sydney Olympic Park, the walk begins close to the Newington Armory and the open green spaces of Blaxland Riverside Park, this immersive trail invites you to slow down, look closer, and feel a deeper connection to the place beneath your feet.
The Wangal Walk brings together artworks, installations, and moments of reflection that connect you to the stories of the area from First Nations Australians. You’ll encounter works that gently invite reflection on Australia’s history, including the Frontier Wars and the experiences of the Stolen Generations, while also celebrating the strength, resilience and enduring connection to Country of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
It’s a meaningful and enriching experience, offering a chance to slow down, learn and connect more deeply with the stories and culture that shape this place.
