Environment award for Sydney Olympic Park

14 Nov 2018

Sydney Olympic Park Authority has won Project of the Year in the Environment category at the Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue’s inaugural Boomtown! awards dinner for its Badu Mangroves Boardwalk.

The Boardwalk is a series of low-impact walkways within the 65 hectare Badu Mangroves, which are located between the southern shore of Homebush Bay and Bicentennial Park at Sydney Olympic Park.

The Mangroves are part of the largest remaining intertidal wetland on the Parramatta River and attract tens-of-thousands of visitors annually to discover the extensive mangrove stands, mudflats and wide array of flora and fauna.

The Badu Mangroves Boardwalk was also a shortlisted finalist for the overall Project of the Year award, which was won by the Inglis Riverside Stables Complex at Warwick Farm.
